40 clicks are not enough, if this is untargeted traffic you'll need much more than that to make a single sale. Find a product that has demand, search in Google, Forums, Ebay Pulse, the news, TV, magazines...etc, DO SOME MARKET research by yourself. don't get into competitive niches like Make money online or dating or weight loss.

That's it! now go and do your homework man. ;)

I've found a lot of products are hit and miss. All I suggest is that you choose products that are timeless.

You are kind of asking a holy grail question :) If it was as easy as picking a product and selling it then everyone would be doing it. You will need more clicks than just 40. There are many ways to taget it, as mentioned above some say avoid markets that are saturated and go for the ones with less competition. Then there are people that say stick only to the markets like make money and weight loss as the amount of competition prooves that there is money to be made there. You may also want to capture their email so you can follow up and try to sell to them later as most people rarely buy on the first visit to a page. I believe it is something like it takes up to 7 visits before they decide to purchase.

Personally i go for gravity of 40-50 from products released in the last 2 months. I check if they`re actually products or just copy cats of 300+ gravity products. then i go look for what kind of competition i can expect. You then make a landing page, better than all of your direct linking competitors, and optimize it for SEO and drive ppc traffic to it. Then you wait a few weeks and if there's no sale (unlikely for a 50 grav original product) i go for something else. Like Supper said its hit and miss.

Find a product with a nice looking sales page, 100-200 gravity, and atleast $30 per sale
