hello all, I am in the process of linkbuilding and I was wondering how folks choose link prospects. Beside relevance, pr, and ease of aquisition, and if the site has a good standing. what are some factors that I should look at. I have seomoz and I have used open site explorer, I think I should focus on sites that have passed mozrank. my thinking is if the site does not pass rank, i should not go after them. what are your thoughts and what are some things i should look at. here are the options. URL mR URL mozTrust URL mozRank Passed Domain mozRank Domain mozTrust
You basically just listed everything webmasters look for when choosing link partners. Niche relevance, Page rank, good standing, and even the ease of linking to eachother. When choosing my link partners I often try to obtain links from my competitors link partners as well.
mozrank all the way, its the most reliable metric currently available. AC rank from majestic is ok as well, but I prefer MOZrank.
Yeah, I agree with lexus.. A great strategy is to look at who is linking to your competitors because 1) they already are open minded about linking and 2) it helps you close the gap between you and your comp.
As long as they are not link farms or behave in bad ways then those factors you mentioned are pretty much it. Try not to do direct exchanges, but link to another site of theirs, like a pyramid, at the very least.
