How to choose keywords for my site

someone please tell me what points should be kept in mind while choosing keywords for a site and what tool should i use

 

In my opinion you should choose those keywords which have low competition and high searches then it will be easy to rank these keywords and to get good clicks on your website.

If you want to have some golden rules, you have to keep that in mind, that you look for high searches and low competition!!!
Look on Google keyword tool for searches that have more than 4000 of a month, and retype that keyword( with quotation for having that exact word in search results) this time in Google engine, and look that your chosen keyword to have no more that 60000 results finded.That is a good result in high searches-low competition.
Also try adding a little long tail keyword if you don't find a good rate mentioned early!

 

Keyword optimization for a website should be determined in various ways. if you're going for a specific keyword you need to look for month searched volume, estimated income through the keyword. There are paid and free tools out there. Paid tool just simplifies few things where you need to do it manually with free keyword tools. Anyhow my suggestion keep an eye on Google keyword Tool, Google Insight and Google Trends.

use the google tool called Adwords.
That will help you account the number for the ones people search for the words.
and you can choose the one as you can.

You could always use a trial and error method using PPC. Run a few campaigns and see what works for your keywords and then translate the data gained over to your organic campaign.

Blacksile has given some great advice that most beginners overlook... high searches and low competition. Most people find keywords that have high searches, but the competition is so high that it would take them 10 years to rank for them. Aside from checking Google for a low number of competing pages, I also like the seobar from "SeoQuake" for checking the competition to see if I can rank for a particular keyword.

 

Keyword and Key Phrases are the most important for optimizing websites on search engines. choose long tail keywords for long term business. But, when you go for optimization do link building for exact match keywords.
