I am a newbie in SEO field I always hear long tail keywords, could you tell me how to choose better long tail keywords? just use tools to see the search traffic? or any other ways? Thank you
Good long tail words are the ones which have some demand but have not much competition. Go for a good keyword research tool as the one on SEOBook website or Google adwords tool - just enter your main keyword and you can see many long tail keywords. You can get a fair idea of traffic they get daily. To see your competition, enter the keyword in quotes in Google searchbox, and you will know the exact competition you have from the search results. Lesser the competition, better is your chance to dominate for that keyword.
Long tail keywords are extensions of your main keyword past the top 20-30 in your results. For example if you run a keyword search for dogs, the first 20-30 most searched keywords are classified as the ‘top keywords’ and anything below that are our long tails............
Long Tail keywords are those 3 and 4-keyword phrases which are very specific to whatever you are selling. Highly specific multi-word phrases tend to be far easier to rank well for than the more generic single keyword or double keyword phrases.
For long tail keyword - first make sure what your website theme. Then use kwyords tool like: Keyword discovery etc.
If you are running an Adwords campaign, often the results of this can provide you with some insight into good longtail keywords if you can report on actual keywords entered when someone clicked on one of your ads. If you use google analytics, to do this do a search for: actual ppc keyword google analytics and click on the first link for directions.
