Have you decided on a domain name for your website yet?
    first of all you should:

    A)Determine your website strategy
B)Make a list of keywords related to you website's service

wander about the appropriate name for a while which you might find something that tells exactly what your site is about

Your domain name is very important, it helps a lot in SEO and general promoting follow these basic guidelines to
succeed in creating an online successful identity :

1)Keep it as short as possible.

    2)Make it easy to spell.

3)Try not to use hyphens in your name mickymouse.com is ok, but
mickey-mouse.com is a more difficult to remember.

4)Try your best to make it catchy & memorable like Squidoo.com.

5)try to use words that can tell what is you site about like youtube.com it definitely expresses itsself

    6) add "The", and "My" Forms to the Domain, if the name wanted is not available but don't forget to promote it with fullname cause people often forgot however "thefreecountry.com" is a lot better than "Free Country" it gives the feeling that this is something common

*however if you want to promote your brand, so it would be a good to include the companies' name in the domain name
even if it's long and hard to remember

    useful links :
Check for Domain availability. After coming up with a list of the keywords, visit AjaxWhois.com or DomainBot.com to confirm if the domain names are taken.
Make a list of keywords : google for "domain name generator"

Instead of having that catchy name is it not more important for the domain to have the keyword you're trying to rank high in in its name?

For example "websitedevelopment.com" would be better from an SEO point of view than "idevelop.com" if you want to be first when someone searches for "website development" ?

yeah in some way that's true but a catchy name makes users come back again and again...
domain with keyword usually get temporary users from search engine who are looking for particular thing once they get it they go and never come back
