What factors do i need to consider before getting a DOMAIN name?

Is the word directory must be thr?

I am having a domain name
    http://www.XXXXXXXXdirectory.com(8 chars before directory)
is it advisable to have a domain name like that?

It isn't necessary for you to have the directory word in your domain. Some people have it, some don't.

As for your domain name, if the 8 letters are pronounceable and brandable, then why not ?

Choose a short domain name.. directory word is not necessary.

if possible build a brand name like www.forplex.com www.romow.com and more.

If you feel you could create a strong brand name then possibly go for that.

Otherwise i often think namedirectory, directoryname are noth fine, i dont think the order makes a difference.

I think choosing a name or word that means something really special to you but that no one else will understand is maybe not such a good idea.

Also a name that cannot be too easily mistaken or misheard could be worth taking into account.

8 char would be little to big, shd be short, also try looking at domains section for trade in dp u might get some good offers there for old names.

For search engine I think it is good. But how many spell, directory correct? I prefer a shorter name, after that just optimize your site like title and the description.

Having a keyword in domain has little bearing in SEO aspect, but as long as its a good brandable name and you are able to market it well, having directory in the name shouldn't matter.

I seem to have a liking for long- domain names.
I am planning to open few niche directories - during coming months - and have got my domains stuck with my desired keywords.

With G coming down heavily on agreessive promotions - I will be focussing more on on-page SEO for my coming directories.

examples of domains I got --

onlineshoppingindex.org ( online shopping has 8288 daily searchers in US:p)
onlinegamblingindex.org again online gambling has 1259 daily searchers in the US.:D

So - I don't really bother about short or long-
what matters to me is - the targetted keywords in the domain. If I can get my directories on the first page for those keywords- I would be happy if I receive 10% searchers:cool:

That sounds good to me, you already have a domain which is suitable. Develop your directory with the domain.

Your name is great, its a little on the long side with 8 chars, but you'll be ok.
