I recently had a run in with trend micro which software state that one of my websites is malicious. I contacted them and they informed me that the reason was that the site does not have a fixed/unique IP, i checked this with the host and this was indeed correct. Anyway i arranged a fixed IP for the website , but wonder how can i check whether i got a fixed/unique IP address? I actually ordered a fixed IP adress for this website 5 years ago, so i was a bit surprised that i was actually using a shared IP address, which means there is a need for me to monitor this, and I wonder how i can do this
use this: http://whois.domaintools.com go to the reverse ip section, it will give you which websites share an ip with yours
Thank you so much. This is all very helpful. I discovered that hostgator, although their business account plan does include a dedicated IP address, you need to actually fill out a separate form to request it. The assumption is of course that when you pay for the hosting account which include the free ip address, you will receive the IP address automatically, as it's how they advertise it. This appears to be incorrect and you need to request it separately. It's all bit nasty, but apart from this it's still my favorite host.
You can use revers IP lookup to get number of websites that share same IP address on: Reverse IP Lookup Reverse Lookup
