Basically, I see people going on about how many people search for a particular keyword etc and im confused as to how you actually check this. Im wanting to get some stats on a few keywords I have in mind and to do so i need to check up on how many people actuall search for it. typically i see 'over 500k u.s searches a month' and thats what i want to find out. Any help would be massively appreciated. cheers, Dameize
Use Google's keyword research tool, it's better if you have a Adwords account that way you can see the CPC (cost per click) as well. Use "Exact" match, not Broad or Phrase. And the competition is advertiser competition and not the amount of competing sites, although they oftentimes kinda mirror each other. Also note that both Google (monthly) and Wordtracker (daily) goes back 12 months to get the average so the search numbers might not accurately reflect the actual search volume. Software tools can further skew the numbers. In other words don't cut the numbers to close if you know what I mean. Note that the CPC is for the search network so you probably don't want to use this for Adsense CPC calculations. For Adsense CPC and if have an Adwords account use that keyword tool and the "Contextual Targeting Tool" to determine CPC.
