I hear people mentioning that its not about how many pages you have indexed, its about how many pages you have indexed in the API. I'm not sure exactly how I check this though. I have an Ajax Google API but I don't know how I check the indexed pages through it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Go to www.google.com and type there site:www.yourdomain.com and the result you see will be your total indexed pages
That's not quite what I'm asking about - of course I know how to do that. I'm referring to this for example: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=766501 And this thread where they talk about checking THROUGH the API. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=270902&highlight=api I've no idea how you check that other than the script they mention but after trying that it doesn't seem to work. It probably needs the SOAP API 'cos it doesn't work with my Ajaz API.
No I don't think its that tool. Whatever tool it is must as I understand it, ask for an API. Otherwise its not using the API.
Oh man....I know what an API IS of course. Can people just stop guessing...Well at least I'm not alone in not knowing how to do this, in fact it seems everyone else is even more in the dark than I am.
Hi All, Just to confirm that checking a site's indexing via the API and via 'site:www.example.com' are two separate processes that may yield different results (i.e reported number of pages indexed). The CO-OP Advertising Network uses the API to automate the process of checking sites and calculating weight on demand. Checking the indexing of your site via the Google API is likely to be a fairly technical process but maybe worth it for an independent check. Thoughts, Comments, Corrections appreciated... Kraig
i'm not sure if the ajax api will do the job you'll need an old api key and one of the scripts that are available for free
