How to check on success of articles?

    Hello,

I have subitted around 20 articles over the last year or so. The earlier ones were not so good, only getting around 5-20 requests on Go-articles. However, some of the ones I have done more recently have been getting around 200-300 requests on the same site.

How would I see how these "requests" convert to backlinks gained?

Just check how many backlinks you have. Use Yahoo explorer for that purpose.
Here is another tool that will show which article directories gave you a backlink: http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/

another thing you can try is to do a google search for the first stance of your article and you will see all the websites that you article is on.

I have another 3 decent articles. What would be everyone's recommendation for success? How many sites should I submit to? Which ones are the best?

if you really want your articles to be successful, you have to juice them. That means YOU have to build backlinks to YOUR article.

The PR flows back to your site and the articles pre-sell your visitors. The visitors coming to your site through an apparently 3rd party articles "know" that your products and services are good. They just read the article. If you do it right, your conversions go through the roof.

goarticles is just fine but not the best article directory around. if you are not utilizing ezinearticles yet, then thats the best one to go with. in my view, EZA sends the most traffic and gives you strong backlinks at the same time. their editorial policy is very strict however compared to goarticles where they have auto approval
