How To Check If A Page is Indexed?

Discussion in 'Google' started by jophan, Jul 18, 2008.

    Hello,

I bet you think now that I am a noob related to SEO.

But my question is based on how to check if a dynamic
webpage is indexed in google. The strange thing is when
I type a keyphrase (mostly long tail) and I see the results
then everything I see would mean that those pages are
indexed otherwise they wouldn't appear in the results.

ok, but when I copy the long and complicated url and
paste it into the search bar of google, this page doesnt
show up in the results section which normally means that
this page is not indexed. but this is not true, cause I saw it
and copied this same url from the results page of google!

So, is there a way to check out if a dynamic page is
    indexed or not?

    thanks

If you type the following into google and it returns something that means your page is currently in the primary index.
    blog.holiday-trips.co.uk/index.php/hiking-camping-insect-bites
If it returns nothing type in the following
    site:blog.holiday-trips.co.uk/index.php/hiking-camping-insect-bites
If this returns a link that means your page has been indexed but has been placed in the supplementary index. You won't get shown on searches if your page is supplemental.
If the second one returns nothing that means you are not indexed.

google search is based on keywords and NOT on page url to search.
So,if you want to see if your dynamic pages are indexed or not, then, put exact page title along with your domain name in google search box.

This should show you the power of backlinks.

Your URL does not show up in a simple search because no one has linked
to it with the URL as the anchor text.

When you search, (without special operators like site: ), Google will only show
results for pages IF someone has linked with that query as anchored text.

    get it?

that is not correct! google will show results for all pages which are indexed! there is
no necessity for backlinks with the keyword as the anchor, this will strengthen this
certain page, but its not a must!

that is correct, but this doesnt mean that you cannot put the exact url in the search bar.
doing this will show you if the page or site is indexed! and generally google shows results even
for complicated urls with php or aspx.

Guess, the problem I described is much more difficult than I thought.
