    Hi DP members,

I got message from google regarding un-natural links in webmaster. Friends I have near around 36,000 backlinks in webmaster. Now my question is: how to check dead links from these 36,000 backlinks. Is there any software, tool or I have to check manually.

    Thanks in advance

Check your link manually, though it will take time, but you will be able to monitor it.

Having 36,000 backlinks seems raises a red flag in Google. Although knowing that those links are active or not, it may not help at all in preserving your rankings. Anyway, I think you can use ScrapeBox Link Checker (free tool) - load your site url and backlinks then it will go through each to check if those list of backlinks still links to your site.

Its important to stop automating the process of link building if you are doing it. Automated links are mostly useless, un natural and spammy links which Google hates as it is of no use for its users and Google also thinks that you are trying to manipulate its search engine rankings and hence will even penalize the site. Find out the spammy links your site has using webmaster tools and remove them manually first or else use "Link Disavow tool".

Import your links to tools like linkody.com. They will be automatically checked.
Although checking which links are still up and which should be disavowed are 2 different things.

You could simply write a script that looks for the error code of a dead website, shift the dead links into a list and narrow down your main list to check manually.

by un-natural links, google doesn't mean dead links. they mean links that were developed using artificial methods. links might very well be alive but google considers them as un-natural links

If you have 36,000 backlinks, than you have to take aggressive steps to delete un-natural links.

    This is the answer..
Un-natural links could make your site banned, as the effect of link building we do before panda and/or penguin (not sure which one).
But you have to remove your links FROM other website.
This is all we do before, getting a lot of links to increase our SERP and PR but today its not relevant anymore..

You have to search and check manually and remove them from one by one..that is the best way :) as no software works for it

checking links around 36000 would take a long time but at least you could verify them byyourself whether it is really a good link or not

How did you get the 36,000 back links? Comments on blogs? Articles? (not likely) Directories? (maybe some)

One way Google would consider them "unnatural" is most of them having the same anchor text.

You can use Scrapebox (not free) or other tools to find the back links.

The easiest way is to hire a good SEO company to do it for you. This may not be cheap. They can also do the other SEO things to get/keep your site ranking.

What has actually happened with your site after you received this notice? What is likely to happen?

In some cases it is better to consider this a lesson learned and clone the site to a new domain name and start over. You can leave code at the old site to forward to the new site.

You also did not say if this site was making any money. If it is/was making enough money it might be worth salvaging. If not, just move on...

I completely agree. Going after repairing your link profile is very difficult. Back is the days it was said that bad links were just not helping. With the current situation, anyone can buy thousands of bad links and destroy your site.
