Google webmaster tools do find backlinks. Also use iwebtool.com for checking backlinks it works for me hope you may try and see the results.
This one is good.. but I was just having a little problem, it shows that our site can generate traffic from Yahoo more than Google but I can't find our rankings in Yahoo though we are listed in Google. I recommend SEO Open, I was using it for ages and I rely on it and also you can do it manually by typing link: site[dot]com
Check it manually on different search engine using this command link:www.domain.com while in msn use this link command inbody:www.domain.com
Hmmnn I have 7899 Yahoo backlinks I have 2040 AltaVista Backlinks I have 5 Google backlinks. Looks like Google devalues my backlinks a touch.
i would suggest SEOMOZ Linkscape , Yahoo Explorer ...Google Webmaster Tool to Look for Google Found links
Tried in google.. it works with links: and not link: but the issues is the results its showing up are different from yahoo once, both are showing different linking pages. for example yahoo shows a back link in domain abc.com then this abc.com does not turns up when i check google results for finding links.. and vise versa Tried this.. not of much use again not working
I am using Google Webmaster, Bing Webmaster, Yahoo site explorer for checking backlinks.. My backlinks counts are in following manner.. Site explorer > Bing webmaster > Google Webmaster I don't know which one is exact backlink count to my site..
I got to say I also use Yahoo Site Explorer for backlinks checking, but there are few points one has to consider: 1. You see only the first 1,000 links directing at your website. if you have more - tough luck, you wont be able to view it 2. Yahoo is counting every link aithout placing much emphasis on quality, so even if you have lot's of links, way more then your competitors, it's of no use if the qaulity is not high. The best way is to check it through Google (write the following in the search tab - link:www.yourdomain.com) and you'll understand your situation. Good luck
I always used Yahoo site Explorer to check the backlinks of my websites until I found out about Google Webmaster Tool. YSE is pretty good, but it shows too many useless links, links from the same domain and the total changes very frequently. GWT shows the real deal, the total number of backlinks your website have it. The only problem about it is that you can't check other websites backlinks.
Back Links or Incoming Back Links (IBL) are links from other websites to one of your web pages. One method search engines use to determine how popular or important a web page is, is by counting these links. Common methods used for obtaining links to your site are: Send a press release to online PR sites Send an article with a link to your site to article submission sites Submit your site to relevant online directories Join forums that are relevant to the content of your site, put a link to your site in the signature area, and submit comments to the site. Another method of increasing back links is by paying for them on other sites. Many search engines in particular Google strongly frown on this method of gaining links. tried this tool, it says back link 0 yahoo explorer 14 google links:sitename says 20 thing is there are some back links which yahoo shows and google doesn;t and vice versa
Key in "link:http://www.yourdomain.com" on your browser and you'll see the results for your backlinks.
