one thing I dont understand is how can a site's backlinks decrease over a period of time? :|

 

great to know about so many ways to find out backlinks. One more site i found is websiteoutlook.com. It also provide information about backlinks.

 

I also have same problem. If i check same blog in two different back link checker they show different results. But how and why!!!

not just backlinks or in/outbound links but you can see all important parameters as well such as serp, whois, ranks, etc.

The first one seems more reliable as the second one seems to miss out Yahoo sometimes.

I use https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/, its actually most used

 

but that is ONLY for yahoo backlinks, it doesnt list others like google, alltheweb etc

Sometimes you get links from top commentators which counts for a lot of links but once you aren't the top commentators then your link drops.

 

It's funny.
I used several of tools you've suggested and each of them shows the other result.

 

if you use web diagnostic, just click on the link at result, it bring you to the source.

sometime the result will have different in total between scraped method, soap search api method and ajax search api method (REST based).
it's google's nature.
