How to Check backlinks of a Website?

Hello Friends,

Please advise us how to check backlinks for a website?

I was confused because many of them following different process for checking backlinks.

For examples:

1. The Check in Backlinkwatch.com sites and it shows more backlinks

2. The Check in google like this site:www.XXX.com


What is the correct format and please advise us how to check the backlinks for this sites..

Both of them works but the second method doesnt show all the link

 

I think the way which is probably most crucial is to check on Google's Webmaster Tools.

If you don't have it setup for your site then of course you will need to do that first. Also, it takes a while for the information to get through so you don't get an accurate list of backlinks until your site is well established - i.e. after a few weeks or months! But, if you are building backlinks to improve your Google ranking then you want to know what it is that Google is seeing.

 

Google Webmaster Tools is the best tool. Make it official

 

you can also use yahoo explorer for checking links..

 

Google webmaster tools is the best option, to show you links that google knows about.

You can also do it manually by doing a search for your URL and then scanning those pages to see if there is a link back to your site.

 

point 2 is showing the indexed pages of a site, NOT the backlinks of a site. What you mean is link:www.site.com I guess.

 

You're 100% correct.... site:xxx.com is used to check indexed page, not backlinks.

 

Don't forget Google Analytics as well.

yes me too but when i did cross checking between yahoo explorer & google webmaster backlinks count different why?

 

yes...but did you know that we can check backlinks from put this link:www.xyz.com on google search box.

 

ohh...wow!!! most of the time i checked backlinks here but whaen i compare with yahoo site explorers it makes difference.Could you tell me the reason why?

Their are plenty of free tools to check backlinks. But my suggestion is to use only one tool for best result or else you will confused what to use and what to not.
