How to change a Domain name with no traffic loss?

    Hi

I need to change my domain name. My website has around 3 million unique visitors/month and generates revenue through adsense. It has around 10.000 pages.

I have to change my domain name. I am very concern with traffic loss and revenue loss. I will 301 redirect all the old pages to the new domain.

Is it possible to do it without traffic loss and revenue loss? How can I do it?

What is the best option in my situation?

Well, the best way to do is with a redirect, I believe if you do a redirect you will not lose any traffic, but if someone else owns your domain.... then I'm afraid you will lose all your traffic.

301 is best way for you, but you need to be owner of old domain all time, so nobody else can't modify .htaccess file... Also, 10k pages with 301 redirect :) God luck :)

You can simply redirect you old domain into new one, so that you will never loss your traffic.

Yes, 301 re-direct is the best and you should maintain ownership of old domain...just in case.

Like the others have said, Just point the new domain at the current site and 301 redirect the old domain to the new domain. That's about it. you ought to be fine.

Hmm... 1st, why you need to change your domain name??? You already have 3 million visitors (wow!) and then you'll change your domain name. If its not really needed to change the name of domain, don't change. But if you insist, make a 301 redirect from your old domain name to your new domain name.

3 million visitors, Great Work! Just keep the old domain for some time and set up proper redirect with code 301. So you won't loose any visitors and PR will be transfered to the new domain in couple of weeks.

I have changed domains for 3 websites, and it didn't have any negative effect on visitor count.
