I have a site, that in less than 24 hours went from 0 unique, to well over 7,000 unique visitors. I'm guessing it will hit 10,000 unique before the 24 hours is up. This traffic has not been bought in anyway, nor has it from a social bookmarking site. The traffic is coming from many different sites on the net. The actual site is not even completed yet. Nor do I have the resources to complete it as fast as I would like. Any thoughts?
you want to know how to make money from it? well, depends on which site you are talking about, and the source, and length of time of the visiits.
I don't believe it either, but if it is true, you obviously monetize it. Even if that traffic is short-term, 7K uniques in that type of niche isn't something to laugh at. Make some quick money for later advertising, if nothing else.
Though I dont feel I need to prove anything... This is a lot of traffic, and there are quite a few people who like to make these stories up to link bait or something like that.
Well you can surely try text links ads, adsense.. you can make good money like that... also try our some affiliate networks matching your niche...
The majority of the traffic is coming because of a news release that came out yesterday. I was one of the first sites to carry the news and get it out there.
in the mean time, adsense. Look for some good affiliate programs as well. Newsletter sign up as well to keep your visitors. push rss feeds as well maybe.

Thank you. There would be no need to brag about this. To me, yes its quite a bit of traffic. Though I am sure many people pull these numbers down consistently. I was just hoping to have some more time to prepare a game plan as far as monetizing, and list building...things like that.
Start with Adsense to get some cash coming in, then with that amount of traffic, start looking for companies in your niche to advertise directly on your site.
I would definitely recommend setting up an opt-in form. Starting a newsletter about automobiles should be really easy, and setting up a high converting opt-in form is relatively easy in those types of niches. If you can quickly get an e-mail list of a few thousand e-mails, then you're in a really good place to turn a profit. Good luck!
