Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

The formula to calculate your keyword density on a web page for SEO purposes is (Nkr / Tkn) * 100, where Nkr is how many times you repeated a specific keyword and Tkn the total words in the analyzed text.

Keyword density the amount of number your keyword appear in your webpage's content. Number of keywords divided by Total number of words in content multiply by 100 to get the %. The best density is 4%, more then that usually is called keyword stuffing.

The basic formula is correct but before calculating the actual density you need to eliminate the stop words from your list of all keywords.

Yup Google has evolved and doesn't rely on keyword density a lot; and it completly removed the meta tags so do write for your visitors!

If you are referring to keyword density of an article it would be much better if it only has a %2 to %2.5 of keyword density, some experts says that this is the ideal keyword density for an article

btw. Google may not use keyword density to HELP results but they could use it to HURT results. it would be a good idea to help root out on-page keyword spam.
