We don't discuss how to break the law here. Similar thread concerning fake bank accounts and credit cards hare been forbidden.
It's just common sense. This is a big forum. You don't think that there are people in the music industry that are a part of it?
It's got nothing to do with my morals. Use your head.

Sure they can. Unless he gives up his citizenship. He still owns the site. the domain is still registered to him. Even if he hides all of that but still receives money from it, he is still an accessory.

None of that is the issue. He is asking how to break the law and how to steal from people and you are telling him.

He's not in Costa Rica, We are not in Costa Rica and this is not a Costa Rican forum...so for our purposes here, this thread is a discussion of how to get away with illegal activity.

...and that doesn't seem strange to anyone? Is that where the attitude is around here?
This isn't the place. It's a public forum.

This thread is no different than "How do I set up a fake bank account so that I can get a Pay Pal account".

I'm sure there are forums hosted off shore or in other countries, or black hat forums where he can discuss and get tips on how to hide from the law. I really don't think that this is the place.

Aren't you aware that people have brought up on criminal charges for things that they posted on My Space, Twitter, and Forums. I am pretty sure discussing "how to" break the law" is something that I don't want connected to my username and IP address.

The mere discussion or planning or aiding in the commission of a crime is conspiracy.
    Common sense.

I don't know if you have ever noticed this or not, but a lot of people here at DP have an interest in criminal behavior over the internet.

And we're not talking about sophisticated scams to make millions and retire in the Caribbean either. This is a group of stupid kids and stoners that desire the social rewards and/or any amount of money that is more than their little allowance or a supplement to their welfare check. Why mow the neighbor's lawn when you can put up a piracy site and grant access based on filling out a CPA??? Right?

Just a bunch of losers that will remain perpetual noobs forever and never know any better about it. Their time is better spent doing more profitable things that just so happen to be legit, but in their eyes they are already the kings of the internet.

Yes, I've noticed, and every now and then I get a little self righteous about it. But you just hate to see people taking shortcuts and working scams thinking that for some reason THEY will be different and won't sub comb to the same problems as all the other people who have gone before them and thought that they were smarter than the law or had a new spin on it.

It's not just the web, it's just life. anytime you set out to deceive, steal, lie , cheat or knowingly break the law, it never ends well. Everyone is brave online, but the walls of anonymity that people think they have, don't really exist. Somewhere, there is a paper trail, or an email, IP address, affiliate payment or something that leads back to you...and it's not hard to track down.

Its clear to see you dont spend much time READING the posts here!

There are countless threads where people are posting how they want to do illegal things and dozens of people telling them how to, and you make the following statement!!

Next you will be telling us you are in reality a martian,
and I would beleive that long before i would beleive this statement.

The answer is as follows. The DMCA is the way you can "legally" host what you're doing. The catch is that in order to put up all the stuff you're claiming you don't regulate or really know about, the DMCA gives you immunity in exchange for diligently taking down these things that do break the law when you given written notice.

    What a crock of crap.
Why dont you find out the facts about a subject BEFORE making a post about it that shows you have no idea what you are talking about!

Yep, you are right. There are plenty of people on this forum that have no problem breaking the law, stealing, spamming, backstabbing, hacking, sabotaging, and making a buck at all cost no matter who they screw over or what the future consequences are. And are willing to discus it openly.
This isn't my forum and I need to stop caring about other people's stupidity. This used to be a nice place where people discussed the business and helped each other. Not a constant barrage of people looking for scams, shortcuts, and black hat techniques.

I guess I miss that. My bad.

At least I can say I was lucky enough to become a member early enough, when there were people around that you could still learn from. I always thought that I could give some of that wisdom back in the place that helped me when I was a noob, but no one cares anymore...noobs just want to know the quickest, easiest scam.

So I need to stop worrying about it. Screw em. If they wanted to know the right way, they would ask.

That's probably because it's not your stuff that being given away.
I have no problem sleeping with someone's 21 year old daughter, but I'm sure if I had one, I wouldn't want anyone sleeping with mine. But at least that's legal.

omg i hate to jump in this when so rightous people are posting

whose frigging laws are we talking about here, and the OP asked a question regarding DMCA which is a American Act , and who gave you the authority to call counties which don't care for DMCA rouge countries , excuse me, get put and get some sunshine world does not revolve according to American laws . file sharing is perfectly legit in some countries, if DP wants to make changes in this section the mods should put a sticky here that this forum is ruled by so called self righteous right winged people, so plz bend over for American laws !!

let me try to explain to you , i own a product i have paid for it it is mine what i do with is nobody's business , if i choose share with a million people it is my problem , don't you lend out books from library or ever borrowed cd or dvd from a friend this what it is . oh nones you have bought every single track or movie you own , or rather in your time you also din't record the charts off radio , never had a vhs tape too[ i pity you for your lies ]

and stealing from whom !!! RIAA/ MPAA who steal from artists the money goes to studios not the artists , the artists want their work spread not limited , you decide what airs when or where in a age where info and media travel at gigbit speeds !! is it reasonable or which radio stations plays what and whom and where and when , god dammit you killed the industry don't blame these kids !! , provide a legit outlet and it will stop on it's own . RIAA/MPAA have one task control the net or rather hollywood and american govt has this task ,[ the present govt in D.C was totally election funded by hollywood so the lobbies rule there !! that place is already turning into a police state and now they want Internet kill switch too,

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-20007851-38.html, frigging scary you guys have killed the net , it used to be fun some 10 yrs back , the only thing i agree on is that making money off the net killed it , be it kids who run such sites or lawyers who want to make money suing 80 yr olds for file sharing !!

one day i am just going to unplug my friggin modem now  thanks for ruing the only true free place on earth [ and yeah they call china and n.korea undemocratic !!

    hypocrites !!

I don't have time to explain to you how wrong you are, but your lack of common sense is stagering. It has nothing to do with America. the fact that he is asking how to avoid prosecution, says that he is from a country that respects DMCA. People from countries that don't abide by it, don't need to ask that question. besides, he already stated that he has had sites shut down because of it.

You really need to learn some reading comprehension and get off of your "Arrogant American" rant.

This is sooo wrong and the reason that many companies don't do business in certain areas of the world. You paid for your own use, you don't have the right to redistribute it to others.

You don't own the product, just the right to use it. Redistributing it is not covered under the law no matter how you try and justify it just as thousands of others before you who feel that they can take and do what ever they want with stuff that they didn't create, and don't own. Who's arrogant now?

If you buy my product and redistribute it either for free or for profit, I'm going to sue you back into the stone age. If you want to share stuff with people or give it away, then you need to make your own stuff.

Learn the law, you sound ridiculous. You got all up on that soap box for nothing.

lol your lack of reading comprehension and lack of any sense amazes me. there is nowhere that the OP has stated that he lives in America , and that he has to abide by DMCA , he has just stated that is blog got canceled due to a DMCA notice by godaddy that is it, and in one breathe you called the countries who don't abide ny DMCA rouge countries !! i asked you who gave you that right ? and you conveniently dint answer that in above post !!

correction not the Arrogant American rant but the Ignorant American rant , there is big difference between the two , you see i can be arrogant because i went to oxford , but you think you can be arrogant just because you are American , where in fact you just being ignorant !!

thank god it is covered my countries laws and i can freely give away any product i own for non profit , makes me glad to live in a sane place , btw so can be done form .NL, Spain, and many other countries , but i guess they are rouge countries for
you . spend some more billions on buying up laws there and start threatening us with trade embargo and things might change here too , that how the American govt works , rite , ?

again you conveniently didn't answer this , why because you din't want to lie or rather expect the truth , that one country whose national passtime is suing each other has killed the Internet for the rest of the world.

better have tried and failed , be glad i closed down 4 years ago , real life became more important then net , am no kid here you are dealing with , my companies have 64 lawyers sitting idle across the world and i have money to spend , it's just that i am not into all this any more cause we did for fun and not for profit !!

the day people esp lawyers decided they can make money off the net it died !!

you missed answering this too or you have no answer because you really have no knowledge of all this, i guess.

look at the root cause of file sharing and look at the changing world , it is not 1980's anymore

have fun , am out of this thread. you want to debate this open a thread in general section and i would happily take on there , if i have time:p

p.s did you you guys have copy righted the bible too , i din't know whether to laugh or cry when i 1t read about it , i mean copy righted words of GOD !!

This explains it all. I beleive most of the politicians in Uk went to Oxford as well and look at what a bunch of mentally retarded morons and thieves they turned out to be.
As they say birds of a feather.....

It is my opinion that the sooner you do pull your modem plug the better.

I used to manage a site generating billions of page views doing exactly what the OP is trying to do - uploading/downloading/sharing of content for a "mashup community." We did well over 1 million downloads a month.

But if this is DigitalPoint, you're in the UK and you have more posts than I do, then there's a chance I might be mistaken. Perhaps you can enlighten us?

The basis of the question to aid and abet the theft of music likely contributed to the creation of the DMCA. The access, control and circumvention clauses do not leave much room for what sounds like an illegal business.

the fact you got away with it does NOT make it legal.

You really have no clue what you're talking about. Do you know what YouTube is? Break.com?

Your problem is that you are confusing your emotions with what the law actually is. Our site was a mashup site and people just happened to upload a lot of copyrighted content as well, none of which we personally knew about. Others start businesses with the desire to ride off of pirated content but claim it is inadvertently uploaded, e.g. YouTube versus a site designed to provide links to Warez. YouTube type business still has a fine line because they knew that it probably was more pirated content. But that's the law right now and a difficult area to splice. You'll have to accept it.
