How to buy a script rights

Well I'm using a free script for my website but i want to sell the website and i can easily delete the link back to the coder's site but i rather pay him to do this and i talked with him for a while he told me he would let me remove the link back and give me the script's rights for high $xx, but how should we close the deal? i send him the money and that's it? or should he make a post on his forum declaring i bought the rights from him so if some one asks me i can point them back to the forum post? please help

 

I've noticed that many of the better script owners will announce an ownership change in the script's forum. Get a license agreement as well.

It's just a document stating the transfer of rights from the previous owner to you with both of your real names listed and dated, in case there is ever a legal dispute.

 

Yes but please explain where do i register the document? and how can i show it to other people

 

For such a small amount, you'll have their email saying they are doing it for $xx and a record that you sent him money. That's all you can really expect for $xx.
