How to buy a domain that's already registered.

I want to buy a domain that's already registered, but not used except for GoDaddy adverts.

The whois however only returns Domains by Proxy as the registrant.

There is a contact email but when I mail it I get a permanent error as undeliverable. So I contacted Domains by Proxy as they say on their site they pass on all emails unless they've been asked not to and they were next to useless as to whether this was an error or because they guy didn't want to be contacted.

Anyway I can get an email to the owner and see what he wants for it?

Well, the only way to get it is to contact the owner, you have to track him. has the domain been a site recently ?

Godaddy offers itself as a domain buy agent when you look for a name and get reply that it is used already. Try that. Also look at Sedo, maybe it is listed there. Almost everybody that has domain for sale lists it there, but not everyone parks it there.

just set a backorder on that domain and keep track when it expires and deleted.
Then only u can get that domain else but from current owner.

No, many people can set backorders on the same domain.
