How to Build up Links?

How and why should you create links? Why is building links for your website good for increasing traffic?

 

building links doesn;t directly increase traffic to your site unless you are getting links form high traffic sites. the general rule is that more backlinks you have to your site, higher your site ranks for your selected search term/keyword. you get traffic once your site ranks high and people find you while searching

 

link building is good for your PR....

when PR is high.. it easy to get advertiser

 

The more links from higher pr sites you have the popular is yous site and the higher will be your site's PR. That is why you build links.

We post comments on do follow blogs , submit site to directories ,do follow bookmarking site and forums. To increase SERP.And,It is very clear that we want to increase SERP to bring traffic to our site.

 

1) Post comments on other forums/blog.
2) Promote sites within your niche.
3) Make your forum/blog/site SEO friendly. Use google webmaster,MSN Webmasters, Yahoo explorer to make it more SEO friendly.

 

Just to boost the PR and some referrel traffic... High PR sites having priority in SERP

 

The best you can link from those who are of high quality traffic on the same site for the type of business you own. For example, if you sell your PC speakers on your site, links from competitors who specializes in PC audio goods would be far more valuable than one of the few areas that are not related, such as credit card affiliate sites.

You ask a very good question, something which I think people should take some more time over to answer clearly. Simply directing you to 'another thread' isn't really an answer.

Firstly, links can bring in traffic if people click on those links on another site. This can be from blogs, articles directories, forums, other websites, news etc - fairly basic.

But links also build traffic through the search engines; bit more back-end but here goes...

Google works by little mathmatical formulas called algorithms. Google programmers can for example say 'we want websites with the search term in the headline at the top' or 'we want the search term included at least twice per hundred words in the main writing'. But as complex as these algorithms get, they are still robotic. They lack the degree of judgement that humans have.

Google knows this!

In fact, Google will analyze the time spent away from search engines in order to help assess your page. If a surfer leaves google.com to go to your website and comes back after one second then it isn't good enough and Google needs to take note. But if the spend half an hour and go several pages into the site - then it's obviously fantastic. Remember, Googles users are human!

The most important factor of human judgement though is links. Genuine links can only be added by a human, someone who thinks enough of the destination page to link to it. Therefore, "links" are a measure of human approval.

The sheer number of links is not necessarily what Google is looking for. I could go around and spam thousands of blogs and forums with my links - but Google learnt to weed those out long ago. The best quality links get the best notice. If say the New York Times writes an article and cities my website as a reference, then Google will sit up. If the biggest blog in my niche writes an article about my website, then Google will sit up. If I exchange links with the biggest guru in my niche, then Google wil sit up. Do you see what Google is looking for?

Now when placing your own link, the key is to imitate that action. Keep it real. Don't spam, add value. For example, on a forum or blog - contribute to the discussion. Add your link with anchor text as part of your answer, but ADD VALUE.

The way that links then build traffic is that Google will take notice of your links and rank you higher - and so you get more exposure, more clicks -->> More Traffic.

Basic normal 3 things that I do is commenting, forum siggy links and exchange links. Used to do directory submission but no more nowdays though sometimes still try to submit my sites at DMOZ.
