Hi there I am new to this as I am not a techincal savy at all and I am struggling for how to make a squeeze page as I am prepared to build a opt in mailing list as I am preparing to promote a product. I would like to create simple page with autoresponder (which I assume we would use aweber) so I can get their emails but I dunno how to start off with or how to build one at all since I am a complete newbie in this area and as I said, I am not some sort of web design technical savy If any advices or useful sites tips would be very greatly appreciated Cheers
Hi there, so you want to start by getting a hosting account with cpanel. 1. log into cpanel 2. click on "file manager" 3. click on "public_html" 4. create new file - (name it squeeze.html) - save 5. click on that file and the stats for it will show on the right hand side 6. Look for where it says "html editor" and click it. 7. You now have a page editor where you can edit in both plain html and just like you would in a word doc. 8. Add your html code, aweber opt in code, and pictures and your set. Here is an example: http://www.listbuilding-101.com 9. Sign up for my free e-course and learn a bit more lol had to throw that in there. If you have any questions though, just ask here.
I would suggest you to start with a squeeze page template, then make changes in that as per your requirement. Use any simple html editor like Microsoft Frontpage to make the changes in the template & for adding your autoresponder code. After you are thru with your changes just upload the squeeze page & images to your server. Let me know if you need more help in any of the above steps!
Just know with "squeeze pages," tourie, if the visitors have to sign in just to get into your site, many of them will give you a fake e-mail address, or simply close the window. Not a good way to start a Website.
Is this tread still open? I agree with 'Perry Rose'. If a squeeze page means that visitors have to provide personel info before they even enter you page then it should be called 'squeeze out' because you'll loss most of visitors even before they step foot in your page. What I would like to know is how to add html code (I see alot of wordpress plugins so that side is covered) that pops up an opt-in box after they have viewed the page for awhile and have a genuine interest. Of course the visitor should be able to close it easily if they prefer. Why does everyone pay monthly for Aweber, can't you just create and add onto your own database and send them out periodic newsletter(s) or emails. Thanks.
The TrafficWave.net AutoResponder system includes a variety of hosted capture pages that you can use to get started with. As you become more proficient with creating pages, you can create your own capture pages if you like.
I did that for a short while. A VERY short while. But I'm not much for lists anyway, so.... I hired a cheap college student to do it for me. Perhaps you can find the same? With opt ins, many sign up, and they aren't all THAT interested to begin with. They quickly lose interest when the first e-mail gets to them. I would suggest that instead of it popping in like that, put it near the bottom of your site. That way if they still sign in after getting that far, you know the odds are pretty good they are indeed interested. It's just a thought. I think it is because it sends out the e-mails automatically on a certain date and time. As you already know, you can hire a programmer to do that for you. Or, at the very least, show you how to do it.
In order to build a list faster, you will also need good eye catching graphical opt in templates. You can download them for free at www.myfreesqueezepagetemplates.com Good Luck! Jerry
Yeah I recommend using a squeeze page template as well. The best free squeeze pages online that I have ever found are at: www.Squeezepagespire.com
What are you basing the suggestion that most people will opt-out before they enter your site? The whole idea behind having a squeeze page is that you offer them something that they would WANT in exchange for their email. If they want the free report/video/cool thing/whatever they give their email. Why would someone have a problem with that? Especially considering they can easily unsbuscribe, as you're required to have an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email if you do email marketing. I'm sure some people just don't like giving away your email, but the psychology behind it is the same as any other transaction, only it doesn't cost you money. Also, people use Aweber or an autoresponder service because it automates a lot of the work for you. Sure, you could do it yourself, but it's a lot more work (would you really want to have to go in and delete records yourself every time someone unsubscribed?) than most people would want to deal with.
Hello, I see that some people have written that you may get fake email if you ask people to give you their names and emails. I dissagree with this. It all depends on how you structure you squeeze page, Make sure you have a compelling offer that will be sent to the email address they will provide you, then have them confirm that email address. As long as you always provide value to your subscribers they will remain on your list. Find out how you can get free reports that you can give them weekly as email series.Divide the report into 5-7 parts and turn it into an email series.
Oh lookie, a two-year old thread. Not fake e-mail addresses but secondary addresses. Many will not use their primary address due to spam. heh heh squeeze pages should be called "squeeze-out pages" because so many visitors back out of them. No matter how nice the page looks, count on over half backing out. (That's a bounce rate to be proud of. *chuckles*) The more experienced already knows this. Clueless noobs, who just assume, think different.
The more authentic and professional your squeeze pages is coupled with the desire for your product will give you not only their real email addresses but a much, much higher conversion rate. Remember to test, test, test for maximum effectiveness.
Kristabelle is exactly right. The point of your squeeze page/capture page... is to help you build a list of targeted prospects, customers etc. who want what you have. So long as you're not asking for too much personal information (address, phone number, dogs middle name) you shouldn't have too much of a problem with fake names/email addresses - that's why double opt-ins are good to use (and it's good to put that in your opt-in box along with an "no spam" clause). Re: building your own capture page, you can: - use a site builder template if you already have a web host - find free or low cost templates online - use a free web builder like Nvu, Kompozer, or My Free Website Builder There are a bunch of YouTube videos that will show you how to create a squeeze page. I used a video program by Loius Allport that is a step-by-step how to with information on certain things to NOT do as well. It's well produced but not slick and sexy. If you want to pm me for more info I'd be glad to share. Good luck tourie!, ZM
A squeeze page with an e-mail submit is really simple to make believe me. You can hire someone to create the landing page for you. Or you can play a little with html until you manage to create a good landing page. Anyway I suggest that you keep it as simple as possible becuase you don't want to distract your visitors and yes good choice, aweber is used by a lot of professionals to take care of their e-mails
