Hi! Facebook is in a hype. Everyone seems to be there. Are there any proven strategies to build links from Facebook? Is it worth it? Can you make money on facebook, like on myspace?
Building links from facebook is not really an option because most of the pages are user only pages. However, facebook and other social networking sites can be a goldmine if done correctly. I suggest signing up for an account, get your links on your profile (display image, personal info, post it on your wall), sign up for a large network (like New York or Los Angeles), then sign up for large groups (such as Six Degrees of Separation). Hope this helps
Just keep in mind not to spam on facebook, because they will ban your account, and then all your hard work is gone.
So the best way would be to place links on my user page. And then get connected to as many people as possible to get exposure to these links. Is that correct?
guy incognito - you could try that strategy, however I am not sure how effective it will be. I suppose it could work if your website is specifically geared towards a college audience. However if you website for example is a cooking website, I doubt that the strategy would be very effective.
I suggest to you invest your time and efforts building links with sites that could really drive to you targeted traffic...
I am going to disagree with you because advertising using facebook has absolutely nothing to do with age....it's all about interests. In fact, I used your cooking website example and did a search on facebook and found over 500 groups about cooking. So I feel there's definitely some advertising potential on facebook.
I dont recommend using Facebook to make money, its not likely to be successful. By the way, how do you make money on myspace?! I really wanna know, so please PM me the answer (not subscribing to htread, thats y) so that I may know. Thanks!!
All the links on Facebook have rel="nofollow" and some of them are redirect like this http://www.facebook.com/share_redirect.php?h=1e89e18cf37061 Code (markup):
richlowerclassjerk - I suppose you are correct. Perhaps the dynamics of facebook have changed since I last used it a few years ago. When I used it, only college students (or those with college email addresses) were allowed to use facebook. However, now it has opened up to the world, and perhaps to a widen audience.
Yup, they are nofollow. Download SEO for firefox that way you can see if links are nofollow on whatever website you are on.
Facebook is actually a complete waste for us SEO types. It sucks. I did try it myself, and found it just SUCKED!
