OK there is still a lot of bad information being given and people are still getting the whole linking process wrong - so to clear it up, this is the only way you should get backlinks. 1) Slowly! 2) Never use software 3) Analyse where your competitors get their links from 4) Have a link strategy 5) Never aim to get more than about 5-10 links per week yourself 6) See number 1 again 7) Only target similar content sites 8) Forums are a waste of space for links 9) See number 1 again 10) Create your own blog, post in it! Tweet - people can find you and link to your content! 11) See number 1 again! Basically, take your time - don't rush it otherwise you will end up ruining everything for yourself. Google is very clever - never assume you can fool it for long! Never underestimate your competition - if someone sees you doing something underhand, expect to be reported because why should you gain over someone doing it the right way? Make proper meta information for back links Make proper strategies to create back links Make sure that back link 100% genuine and relevance to your website. Keep this whole thing in mind whenever go through link building for your website ranking.

Great logical sequence of tips for obtaining backlinks. I would say you could increase the rate of link building as that is probably being ignored by google. Because if it were of concern to google, then you could buy links for your competitor very fast and then they will get penalized by google for 'abnormal link building'.

You can hire someone if they are given a clear list of the kinds of sites you need to target and if they are told not to get them too fast - its all about the relevance and speed
very good..all basic concepts are there....but I feel most important is to choose website for backlinking..it should be very appropriate to your content...in that case backlinks are effective and useful..
