Hi I just thought I would contribute my own thread rather than just commenting on others for a change! I have been using twitter for months and at first I didn't really get what it was all about. I now use it as a major source of targeted traffic for my lists. I thought I would share the process with you so you can also benefit. If you like this quick guide then maybe you will enjoy my free twitter guide in my sig...nothing to buy and lots of screen-shots to get you up and running if you don't know how. So on with the process: First of all if you don't have a twitter account yet then go and sign up for one. Once you have your account you need some followers who will be interested in your offering. I have a free guide to blogging on one of my blogs and direct people to that from that specific twitter account. OK so say your niche is muscle building. Go to twitter and type in "muscle building" to find the authorities in that niche. You need to follow these authorities and also follow their followers too. The key to fast follower building though is to find the responsive tweeters rather than the ones who only use it now and again. Look for the ones who have tweeted within the past 24 hours and follow them. Do this every day until you have built up at least 2000 followers. If the ones you follow don't follow you back within 3 days then unfollow them. You only want followers who are interested and who will react to your tweets. Whilst you are gaining followers tweet interesting things about the niche, find news articles about it and link to them, tweet your own experiences (if you have any!) and just generate some interest. At this stage don't try to sell to them. In between building followers you need to set up a blog for muscle building. Look for a url with muscle building in it somewhere...i.e. toptenmusclebuildingtips.com - you get the idea. Set up wordpress on the blog and find a relevant theme. Add some RSS feeds to the blog for muscle building to get some auto posts going and also add your own content. After about 10 days you should have a nice blog with good content. Now add a subscribe optin box using aweber and offer a free gift for people who subscribe. You could find a PLR ebook and make it your own for example. OK now you have at least 2000 active followers on twitter start tweeting the link to your blog - just vary the content of the tweets - i.e. "Look at my new blog all about muscle building" . Your followers will come and look as you are not selling to them and will opt in to your offer. Once you have built a good list you can then market to them with CPA offers, clickbank products etc etc. Just keep building the followers as before and before you know it you have a sizeable list to market to! Hope that's useful. Cheers Keith
Nice post. You may want to consider a plugin called WP to Twitter. Posts a cligs or bitly url with title of blog post to twitter. It works well when you set up an autoblog.
Hi reapr - thanks for the kudos. I do use Post to Twitter as a plugin linked to WP-O-Matic to serve RSS Feeds which works really well. Just looking at some more advanced tools and will repost when I have tried them out!
I think you need to be a little careful with this method. In my experience, Twitter is very social. If you only tweet your stuff and if it winds up to be mostly sales pitches, people will catch on eventually and stop following opr stop visiting your blog. I think you need to interact more (retweet someobody else's posts, chat with people etc.)
Katiery I think you need to re-read my post as you haven't got the message. I get lots of people signing up to my lists and I tweet to them regularly.
Always great when someone offers useful info, thanks. I run an sEO site and am just starting to incorporate social networking into the the services I offer my clients. If you get a chance shoot me a PM when you have a minute, I would love to chat.
Twitterfeed is a nice tool I use where you can just give the RSS feed of your blog and it will tweet a message each time it is updated. Saves tons of time manually tweeting.
