according to me these are the best ways of bringing traffic to your blog is social networking : always try to add your blog's informationand or link whenever you send messages or scraps to your friends or others. leave replies to other related blogs : for e.g if your blog is about marketing go to other related blogs and comment on their posts in which you can provide a link to your blog. post articles : post articles at sites like goarticles.com and articlecity.com. this will take little bit time but it is very good. post at forums : helping people at forums is very good thing and you can add some links to it but don't spam. this is also a very good way for traffic. no to google adwords : if you are a blogger and sharing information, then google adwords may bring traffic but it will eat your earnings. But if you want to sell your products then it can be useful.
One thing I would like to add is: Write according to Trends, Keep an eye on current search terms and write on them instead making history pages or old stuff, this is useful in making good traffic, ans secondly write for people and give them benefit and they would love your Blog.
