I have revived an old forum of mine, rebranded and renamed it as www.bblogic.com, I am trying to target specifically people who work in the IT Industry. I would like to know what would be the best way to go about targeting that kind of audience. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks M_ac
write articles get good quality backlinks from them make sure they are theme related and do follow will up your pr and get traffic in
I suggest answering questions in Yahoo answers related to your niche, put your link as a source, and if possible refer to a thread in your forum (saying it's better explained in here or something like that .. ) This method works perfectly for Forums .. You can as well use classic techniques like articles marketing, link exchange etc etc .. you will find plenty of threads in here to get you started .. Good Luck.
hi, I would focus more into your niche, into the very specific area you are targeting, then type in that keyword/.phrase into google followed by the word 'forum'. Pick the top ten forums that google shows you, make sure they offer links in the signature then start helping people, they get your expertise and you gain credibity and hopefully subscribers to your email. Start small and focused, then it will grow from there, cheers Dave
you have waaaay too many categories on your forum. Start small and expand as necessary. A forum that big with as little traffic as you have right now, looks even more empty.
Well, you could use a linkbot to spam the referrals.... I guess that's greyhat if you know what I'm talking about. Ping a ton of links & webmasters will get curious & click on the referal link to check you out. You may be seeking more legitimate traffic.... sorry a noob speaking here
First get some forum posters to fill up your forum, then try to rank for some long tail keyword for each individual forum post. Hope this helps!
Thanks everyone, I will give some of those suggestions a try. In regard to having too many topics, its mainly because I am trying to fully cater for the IT professional, I created those topics based on my industry experience but also expect them to grow as we get more members. I can see your point and I will take it onboard.
I was having some luck with yahoo questions and was very careful about my postings, but out of the blue one was banned and I got a "scolding" - didn't get it, it was an honest referral to real information on one of my sites...kind of soured me on it. Anyone else ever have this happen? What could I have done that made that particular post get banned - are there some guidelines I may be missing? Tx.
Advertise it in different forums about your forum. Also do guest post and buy blog post if required in highly traffic blog. In this way, you will reach to many audience and will be able to attract targeted people.
You could also think about social websites. That could be another good source of traffic if you have the time .
