It depends on what keyword you use and how you use keyword as anchor text and consider also the competitor still there and using those keywords

 

If your keywords is too competitive then try to find long tail keywords (less competitive) using Google Adwords tools. You must also see how many authority site on the first page so you will understand how "crowded" the market for that particular niche keywords

 

You must to focus what keyword/s you are going to target then get more backlinks using that keyword/s as your anchor text.

 

A website can get into Google top ten with good quality backlinks.
