    Do you want to be top for the entire USA? Or interested in certain regions?

    If you want to promote yourself locally, then you should go for local SEO which is different to general SEO.

    To promote locally you need to have a correctly optimised website with the correct keywords, inclusion in local directories, Google Places, Bing Local etc., Backlinks, Google Places Optimisation

    TO promote generally, its all about content and backlinks. Get the balance of both and it will give you a good start.

    However, reaching the entire USA for a term such as "Real Estate USA" etc will be very difficult as there is alot of competition!

    Well, First need to see your site then will let you know. however you can go for SEO or SEM which help you to bring your site on top of search engines.

    I guess you are asking about indexing your website in search engines . Indexing is easy, follow these steps :

    Step -1 Create a webmaster account on websites like google and bing.
    Step -2 Add your website as a new webmasters tool property.
    Step - 3 Google /Bing will provide a Meta Tag ( To be added in your Html code ) or HTML file to be uploaded in the root of your domain .
    Step - 4 You account will be verified and you must create a SITEMAP of your website.
    Step - 5 Upload the Sitemap of your website to the Webmasters account.
