How to bring a dying website back to life?

I currently own a website (conc rete - canvas) (add .com, and remove spaces)

This seems to be dying. When I first got it, I was getting around 3k uniques a month. Now I am getting only a bit over 1k.

This is due probably to my lack of time to maintain, the sparsity of the blog posts, etc.

So what I am asking is:

How can I bring it back to life, even better than it was before, and even more profitable, without spending too much, and while making it more automatated. By this I don't mean an autoblog, they're too spammy, I want genuine people writing, and other streams.

I've thought so far of updating the forum to vbulletin, getting a new website design, doing some SEO to get it ranked for things like "street art", setting up dropshipping, so I can make it the place to go for materials as well. Also, a charity t shirt competition was planned, so I could do that, but I'm going to start that once I've kickstarted the website.

    Thanks for any ideas! :D

I would stick to what every person does best. Just advertise your butt off.

Do all of the following for a few hours a day.

    1. Social Media
    2. Social Network
    3. Article Writing
    4. Submit to Directories
    5. Forum Posting

You need to take some time and promote it... Spruce up the layout and fire a press release, this should help to get it noticed..

You can also try to get links from blogs, forums, .edu and .gov sites.. It will take lot of effort from your side but in the end it is going to be worth it..

    And don't forget content!
Add new content regularly, your visitors expect that. There's nothing worse than going back to a website and see it hasn't changed.

Yeah. It seems like you already know part of the answer, as evidenced by your original post. If you already had the visitors coming there, then creating enough new content is fairly essential to keeping them coming back.

The time you put in to your site can have a fairly direct relationship with the money you get out (though obviously this only holds true some of the time).

I agree, if you don't want to spend too much then the above is your best option, hard work to maintain but you will find it worthwhile.

It sounds to me like you just need more content. Start writing tons of blog posts but don't publish them all at once. Publish one or two a day and set the rest to schedule post themselves - it'll be like pre-written content which you don't even need to touch. Your blogs will continuously update and post each day without you needing to do anything.

Definitely the following: 1) site re-design 2) if the URLs arent SEO-friendly, get them changed 3) engage in social networking 4) email your visitors and notify them of these changes through your forum software if you have it

Maybe you stop promoting your site for some time. I will advise you do the things you have been doing, those same things that have worked for you might still be efficient.

First of all analyze your's competitors, and you will see what they are doing right and what are you doing wrong.

Survey current visitors to see what they like and why they are users, then build on that.

Having a quality and unique content is the primary need of any site to get live traffic all the time.
Promotions will help you make people aware of the latest content that you have added to your website.

Use Social Media to promote you site, spend only few hours on it but on a regular basis:
    Forums
Social Networking Sites like Orkut, Facebook & Myspace
    Social Bookmarking
    Twitter Updates

This will definitely help your website to regain its popularity.

Why don't you write an e-book for your subject or something with a link to your website at the bottom?
Or offer to guest post on other people's blogs?
