I need help for this question. I have an great interest in the dating niche. However, I am not an expert. Firstly, I am single. Secondly, I have no intention to become attached for at least the next one to two year as I want to focus on my career first. I am now stating out as an affiliate. Anyone has any suggestion on how I should approach it. For example, setting up a blog, writing articles, create squidoo page, jv etc... What are the things I should do first?
You are still new here .... so instead of asking questions read out the affiliate marketing section as much as you can. Really good advice and links there ! My 2 cents
Find interesting stuff out there that you can talk about, whether it's in articles, blog, or whatever. Look in the Internet, newspapers, magazines, message boards, tv, radio.... Act like a reporter, going out looking for stories. Speaking of message boards, here's a thread you could talk about in your blog, or whatever... http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts1614785.aspx Get people involved by asking what they think. And it doesn't necessarily have to be JUST about dating in every single submission. Talk about interesting stuff in general, and then put in your link. About putting in aff. links. You should consider putting in your site's link instead, and have them copy and paste it. Don't make it live! And then have your affiliate links in your site. Reason being is that many sites don't like aff. links. DIGG will either ban your ass or digg you in so deep, you might as well forget it. Be subtle!
According to Webcontent, "dating online sites are a $300 million industry in the US alone and rapidly expanding worldwide." When your website is up and all done find a professional marketing copywriter to make sure all your potential customers find you. My advice: 1) read some "expert" blogs in the dating niche 2) pick up the points these experts stress 3) study their style 4) get your own blog 5) write some interesting content using what you learned from studying the masters at work 6) market the blog on forums unless you're actually an expert, i doubt you'll be able to establish yourself as an authority in the niche but you can always try.
Books are cheap, so invest in a few. A good example is the rise of the infamous internet Marketers. Nowadays everyone who owns a blog and preaches some crappy Google techniques is branded a Internet Marketer. The chances are that if you pass yourself as an experienced professional most internet users will believe you.
Read as much as possible and of course the biggest thing is learning from experience you need to start out small and build it up so you have the groundwork in place and have a base to work off of. But of course to "brand" yourself an expert you are going to have to be successful in your niche and continue to be able to expand
