How to bid on trademarked keywords?

I have a Lego Technic website and I want to promote it via Adwords, but my ads were disapproved because of trademark terms (my ad contains the keyword "Lego Technic").

And I also wanted to promote my Hostgator coupon website using Adwords, but my ad has been disapproved for the same reason. So my only possibility is probably to use the keyword "Host Gator" instead of "Hostgator", isn't it? But what about Lego Technic. What could I do with it?

I wonder what can I do? How do you deal with trademark terms?

    Hi !

It is a difficult situation. What kind of contract do you have with Lego Technic ? Maybe you could try to get an authorization...

However, my advice is that you should have keywords that describe the product (don't forget to use negative keywords) and also misspelled keywords (for example : leggo) even if I don't know if you will be able to use misspelled keywords. With the misspelled keywords, use also the negative keywords (for example : if leggo actually means something, exclude some keywords that could refer to this meaning).

    I hope this helps !

    Good luck !

Thank you for your reply. The problem is that I have the keyword "Lego Technic" in my ad.

I don't have any contract with Lego, as my site is just an Amazon affiliate site.

    You're welcome.

I guess you'll have to remove "Lego Technic" from your ad to get it accepted.

Try the other options I advised you.

    Good luck !

You can bid on it, but you can't have it in your ad copy.

I doubt Lego is going to give you permission but you can try.

Not alot you can do really??? You'll have to think of alternatives! There's not even a blackhat way around blocked keywords unless you work at the big "G" LOL

By the way welcome to Adwords....it's a bear..........maybe your Hostgator site doesn't meet googles landing page requirements.........hover over the keyword to check for details!!

Google plans to open up trademarked keywords to AdWords advertisers in June according to Michael Orey of business week. Beginning June 4th, companies will be able to bid on the brand names of their competition, which will heat up the AdWords listings throughout Google and lead to head to head battles in the SERPs over branded product, service and company names.

Google has also released a list of the countries and region where they will not investigate the use of trademarked keywords.

Google,Bing, 7search, etc., will allow you to bid on the trademarked keywords but you cannot have them in the ad copy. Try more general, holiday/gift/kids toy ad copy instead.
