    Hello fellow Members,

Can you experienced folk tell me how to begin an affiliate program for my own product. I have been approached by a website owner who would like to place my banner on his site whereby he gets commission for each paying Customer he sends me.

    1. How would I set this up?
    2. Which payment companies are the best to use for this type of thing?

    Thanks.

    Hi gooseandluba,

I don’t think it would be very practical to go to the time, trouble and expense to set up an affiliate program just for one person. But if you want to to it on a bigger scale here are the basics that are needed.

You need an affiliate tracking and banner serving solution. You can get in-house software that's pretty reasonable. Look at iDevAffiliate.

Or you can go with an affiliate network which is much easier and they pay affiliates for you. One of the best and most cost effective solutions is Shareasale. They are only 550 set up as opposed to 5,000 - 10,000 for the major affiliate networks.

You'll need banners and need to stay in touch with and manage the affiliate program or hire someone to do it for you.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

I am also looking for affiliates for my sales. Do we have a free, opensource alternative to iDevAffiliate ?
