Study and experiment in SEO first. Without studying and practice you never become proficient at such a in-depth topic like SearchEngine Optimisation.

It also helps a lot if you already know a bit about it. Some people spend thousands of dollars and hours. I know people that are studying SEO for 10+ years already, you simply can't beat those.

Also study your competition and see what they lack. That way you can improve on that particular point and get on top of your competition. There are so many SEO companies and also lots of DIY info around. It's a tough market to make really big bucks in.

u can learn from Tutors but after all matters is how much u can add skills at work.. I mean to say u need to work out what u learn from forums, blog, or any tutors, study Google and other search engines behavior and come up wit plans and implement them ... etc.. be ethical and follows White SEO guidelines :)

Practice, get experience (the most important) and read daily. Try to find out daily something new about SEO... you have tons of places to get it. Good luck!

Learn and try the SEO fundamentals that you can read in this forum.
(Try to build a websites network too)

When you are familiar to them and you start succeeding with them you have to find your own way via investigation.

Everyone knows the fundamentals, but your secrets makes the difference between really good SEOs and average ones.

read a lot of seo tutorials, some of them are real, experiment it to your own website. If those tutorials works and you were able to send your site on the first five in Google for a competitive keyword, then this will the start of your seo career.

well alot of what you see here in dp is people self serving to sell something or self promote. Which is ok if they give you quality content......sadly most do not and it is probably because they themselves do not know. there are some great free resources out there if you are interested pm and I'll send them to you. there is also a lot of pay sites that are garbage and a few I wouldn't pass by. As for the info domain idea 2 guys posted....experimentation is good but why .info? Info domains get a immediate negative mark from google...they are know for being spammers so why start off in the hole?, also register for 2 or more years that is all I am going to say as I love to talk about seo and this will turn into a full blown seo training.

Nowadays it is a huge business and very lucrative business.

I write SEO stuff (and teach a course online on SEO writing) so did a lot of research over the past few years and the comments made here are accurate -- sometimes the advice you get is nothing more than speculation. The hardest part of understanding all the information you get is that a lot of it conflicts with other information. And there you are trying to figure out which is the best advice or if the whole SEO system is changing and none of the old rules apply.

Learn about SEO and SEO technique as much as you learn and then apply those technique which you have learnt.
