Find a good teacher and listen to him/her patiently.

But I personally believe that use of calculators to some extent is good, afterall the machine was invented just for the sake of calculations and increase in effeciency (I am not saying I am dumb at mathematics, I can do nn*nn calculations in 0.5 seconds flat)

:(:(:( Dude, you make me sad. Math is my fave subj.

As everyone else said, practice! Don't rely too much on your calculator. Have you tried basic operations flash cards?

    Try this one too: http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/SpeedGrid/Addition/urikaadd3res.html

I've been using it to improve my mental math.

Well, for the simple stuff like multiplication and division, I found the only way to learn them for myself was to memorize.
    Start by memorizing the 2's:

    2*1
    2*2
    2*3
    2*4
    2*5
    ect.

After you memorize those move onto the 3's, 4's and so on.

Once you've mastered basic multiplication, you'll have no trouble with division. :]

So you could do say 1323 x 9384 . Within a few seconds? That's pretty impressive.
