The best way I can tell you..which I too had followed was just go to php my admin of your site and export the mysql database of your site.It will be your backup of database and for public_html create one from your backup wizard..
1. can use component to bacckup joomla site use: Akeeba Backup component 2, And in your host component you can use Backup function easy, if you cant, should ask your host supporter. 3. can backup joomla site manually: - use FTP download all your joomla code: files and folders - login your phpMyadmin and export database. Need any more pls contact us. goodluck
kindly first of all export your sql data base then go to cpanel and select all files and then select compress button and compress all and download files.
You don't need to do all of this. Use Akeeba backup like some of the others have said. I have probably use this about 20 times now. Install the component Go into the options and run a backup Download the backup file Do a google search for a file named kickstart.php and download it Upload both kickstart.php and the backup file to the root of your new Joomla installation Ensure you know the name of the database that was created for the new Joomla installation and make sure you have user access to it (username, password) Go to [Homepage URL]/kickstart.php Follow the instructions and you are done.
I have been using Akeeba for about a month now, although its easy and free I still do manual back-ups (SQL dump and Full web file back up) about once every two weeks to be on the safe side. One thing I do also is to have another instalation of Joomla running on a different sub-domain so that I can test my back-ups - there no good to you if you cant restore your site after is goes down!!!
