Promote a site, get more traffic, etc, probably has been covered pretty well on this discussion board. So I recommend researching here, pick the methods that best works for your site and then go for it. Rarely do I see anything new so it is a matter of doing the work.
I have a great ebook called 'Internet Advertising & Traffic Secrets' which is jam packed with tips for getting free traffic. I give it away for people on one of my lists. You can get it going here. Look for the popup when you try to leave the page.
I tried to post an ad on craigslist about three mouths ago and they have strict rules as to what type of ads you can place. Maybe things have changed now.
is up and coming. Articles with original content and high relevant one way back links will also help.
All of these suggestions are good. In general you have to give something of VALUE away for free to get folks to trust you, then you can upsell.
Submit to DIGG, DELICIOUS and Technorati. DIGG is the biggest one because they capture everything that's interesting in a website post or a blog post or something off the net. If you're planning to submit an article, then it's better to put that in an article directory like ezine articles or go articles. You can also write a post without a blog on Squidoo or Hubpages. All these are free ways to advertise your sites; however, when you write articles you cannot just do a straight advertisement. You must write about a particular topic or feature related to something you might be offering on your site and show in general how it benefits the public and then write a call to action to get them to sign up. Squidoo is the exception. They're a little more relaxed about people doing straight advertising. A little. For example, if you're selling a video game controller that operated by thought, you can write an article about how gamers tend to wear out their hand controls within a few months, waste money buying new controllers, and suffer from acute carpal tunnel syndrome. But technology has come out with a new controller that operates by synapses in the brain and slight head movements. Out in the markets and are going fast. To learn more about it click on your hyperlink. Then in your resource box, you happen to mention who you are and what your website is. Something like that.
LoL it cracks me up when people say : Submit articles. Write on other blogs. Submit to dig. Etc. Etc. The key isn't updating other peoples sites !! populate your OWN site .... possibly get people to populate your OWN site .... don't waste your time promoting your site on other sites .... work on your own. If people wold stop focusing on other peoples sites and worked on their own - then you'd get traffic .... I never write articles or submit content on or to other sites. All unique content goes on my site only. I Digg one or two articles per day.
I attract my visitors with my sexy babes. One way or the other, somebody will steal your unique content. It is very hard to avoid.
The best thing for you to do is start looking at Social Marketing, Blogs and Forums. Social Marketing is free and it's best to start with Facebook and Myspace as they are largest. Join a few Blogs and Forum sites and start contributing to them and very soon you can attach a signature with a link to your websites. If you do these things the search engines are a good chance of spidering your website as well therefore giving you a better ranking. Trandanos
Put a link in your signature for a start.. get a steady few people per day.. and once you've done that.. life will become a lot less complicated.
articles and backlink exchange (boring to do), posting on blogs and forums - all work but take time and social marketing is vital
Article marketing is a long term strategy which will attract visitors. PPC, Adwords is good; however, it can be costly should you not know what you are doing. Take a look at spyfu dot com and take a look at your immediate competitors - their websites, keywords bid on, traffic and see if you can compete. You didn't mention the age of your websites - this is also important or whether you have page rank or trust rank.
When was the last time you seen an article in the top 10 results in Google ? a true article ? A long time ago .... article marketing was good in the late 90s - early 2000s - it's like looking back on the 80s. I don't know why people swear on article marketing, I do very little promotion and none away from my site .... yet I get 10000 uniques daily.
Blogging, Articles, Classifieds, Youtube marketing those are some ways to improve your business trafifc
Submitted Articles may not stay in the top 10 in Google, but they definitely get noticed. I'm a newbie and submitted my first ezinearticle. it ranked #3 on Google within 24 hours of having it approved. Just checked it and it's #1 now for both "online quick and easy" and "online quick and easy with fast cash for newbies" The article is now almost two weeks old.
