    Hi,

How Do I Attract Traffic From Eastern Asia

I have an eccommerce site that attract a significant number of visitors from the UK, other European countries and also North America.

However, I get virtually no traffic from countries in Eastern Asia such as China and Japan.

I find this confusing as I assumed that the non geo internet marketing techniques I use to promote my site would attract traffic worldwide and not necessarily predominately from Europe and North America.

Is their something in particular that I need to or can do to increase traffic from Eastern Asia (China and Japan)?

    Thanks

    Jimbob

The value of incoming links is now evaluated from the location of the server...

... for instance, a great many incoming links from sites situated on servers on the US will result in higher SERP positions in google.com as opposed to other national google derivatives...

... so, if you want traffic from east Asia then you need to start building links from sites in that particular area...

agree with previous post. as i (and my website) are in SE asia i find just the reverse, i am trying to reach markets in UK/North america so i've been steadily adding links to travel sites/directories in those local areas and using google analytics to fine tune.

The search engines in other countries prefer domains with the country's TLD. You could register a Chinese or Japanese domain to help penetrate those markets.

You need backlinks and references from other east Asian sites...and not to point out the bloody obvious, but templates that have a foreign language counterpart would be very helpful in being able to bring in and maintain traffic.

BTW, have you tried using Adwords to target non-English keywords? Korean Hangul, Simplified Chinese, Japanese Hirogana & Katakana...etc. I personally haven't tried to see if it's possible as an US advertiser, but find a buddy who can give you characters for certain words and try targeting them.

Are your sites available in Chinese/Japanese/Korean? Do you regularly visit sites in Arabic? If you don't have your site in the languages Eastern Asian speak why do you expect them to visit your site???

I think China blocks my website and other websites.

The traffic that I get from there is ridiculously low compared to other countries (some of which are less developed).

Remember that China blocks a lot of websites. Best thing you can do is hit the social networking websites.

They probably interact between each other and don't want to interfere with European and American societies...
