You could buy advertising space on related websites. You could also advertise offline. Take colleges/uni/school I.T. departments for example. Most of them would be quite happy to stick your poster on their classroom walls. You could also stick a trial version of your software on some P2P network in order for it to spread around. How about newspapers and computer related magazines advertising? Some of them have dedicated sections. You could also find a computer related radio station and advertise there... Thats just a few idea coming from the person who never sold a single bit of software. Im sure someone will give you some more tips in a minute.

    Alhoop,

I recommend writing and submitting articles around the internet to get targetted traffic. If you search on this forum for "articles" or "article submission" you'll find lots of helpful info.

I agree with tltfaas, writing an article about your software and how it was used and how it helped (something like a real case scenario) might attract interested viewers. I also suggest link exchange with sites similar to your site or ones that talk about what your software does.

Post it on forums, oh wait.

Seriously though find forums about similar software and ask for a review, evaluation, or type up a quick pitch...

damn that should teach you and all of us a good lesson...
Read, check links then read and check links and finally read and check links and then before submitting your article read and check that all links mentioned in the article are correct.

time-consuming going back through the list and changing the domain name - a much faster way to rectify the problem would be to register the wrong url and then point it to the correct one :)

Nice to think outside the box sometimes :D - I hope the domain's available for you.

The best thing to do with articles is take your time. After you have written one, save it away and don't look at it for a couple of days. Then take it out and re-read it. You will be surprised at the mistakes you see.

Correct them and do it again. Post the article on one of your own sites and then click on the link to see if it works.

Then send it to a friend to check it again for you before you submit. Other eyes see things that we are blind to.

    Regards,

    Will

Most webmasters never use the power of Filesharing. If you sell software maybe you could upload a trial version on Bit Torrent networks. You could include your url. That should bring you a lot of traffic.

You might want to experiment a lot with this.

Articles are excellent on the web. Do you have any success with vertical industries. Say plumbers like your software...can you expand visabilty into the plumbing world.

Check out vertical industries where you have some success. If those work then get links, write articles, and/or get hard advertising into the vertical industry.

Are there associated topics that work with your software. Say it created better inventories for plumbing equipment. Prepare a directory on site that would mention many other affiliated topics that plumbers might look for. You'll get visits to the site for the other related topics and some traffic will come your way.

Keep experimenting. try and figure out what others are doing w/similar topics. Copy them. Keep trying things.
