How to attract people in joining a discussion forum?

Ive got 2 forums, both aren't doing too well and to be honest I having been putting much effort into them either!!!

Will have to get a move on n do something abotu them soon!

 

Do SEO Properly, Participate in other forums, and use your link in signature, Post frequently..

And if u can spend some bucks, use adsense for a few days and see traffic heaping into your forum..

getting a forum going is a slippery slope. People are attracted to forums with lots of users yet its hard to attract people to become users because you dont have any. Maybe start a blog, build a name for yourself as an authority in the industry and then branch out to a forum. Rev sharing the ads always helps to.

 

I already have a blog which gets 1000/1100 readers a day , ive put a link to the forums and the forum is doing a bit better now. Atleast there are some active people now that post along with me.

 

The best way to promote your forum would be to make it look active and happening.

 

I would just try to capture the attention of people already active in other forums. Eventually the people will come around

 

yeah I think the best idea is to Answer related questions at Yahoo Answers and increase your creditability and also adsense idea is cool to pour a lots of traffic to your forum.But still to make your forum active and lively, you will have to somehow connect your well set blog and new forum.Some contest, some small prizes like rapidshare accounts or anything else attracts a lot of people .They will happily contribute and compete for that prize. It will be a sort of WIN WIN situation.
