Create a buzz amongst many affiliates in affiliate marketing forums like this. Release affiliate material so they can get their campaigns ready for the launch date and already have sites ranking.

As far as I am concerned I would say- Show them how to promote your product. Give them some rare tips which no one else will share...That would definitely get them interested. Just help them get that first sale and they would start doing the rest themselves.
Post on other marketing forums, and offer decent bonuses/incentives to promote beyond the basic commission. Make it as easy as possible through great resources/creatives, and share general background info that they'll need to know - like the markets/niches you're targeting, where they hang out, what sort of pitch works well, the emotional trigger points of the niche, etc. Understanding a market leads to good promotion because you know how to target the prospects properly. Throwing up a PPC campaign is one thing, but focused efforts are just as good. TEACH your affiliates how to be good affiliates, and they will be!
