don't write too much text, the webmasters are busy, they don;t want to waste their time, write on subject, and tell him his advantages to have a link on your website, traffic, positioning, search engine ranking, etc

    Wayyy too much text.

    Here's what I usually do-

    "Hello.

Cool site! I really like your section on (blah blah)!

    I have a related site (www.blahblah.com).

Please contact me if you're interested in exchanging links.

    Thanks,
    Rob"

Ah okay, I'll adjust that then.

I'm just afraid they won't want to echange the links :p.

It sounds like you're trying too hard. And telling them that their website will benefit from linking to yours is a bit presumptuous. Since you're a blog, make sure you've got some archived posts goin' on, because when you're just fresh and new, you don't have much to back up your reputation.

Also, if you're using Blogspot, you might want to switch to WordPress, better for professionality, better for SEO. Check my sig, it makes setting up with WordPress much easier.

You should start your blog linking off with submitting to blog directories. Do a search for blog directories and submit away, there's at least 50.

    Hello,

I came across your Photography website today and am interested in a link exchange. We run a photo hosting website. Since our sites are both in the photo related field, I believe an exchange would benefit our site visitors as well as our search engine rankings.

We have added your link in the Photographers category here:
    http://www.seethisitem.com/resources.php

If you would like your link information changed , please let me know.

    Here is our website information:

Google Pagerank 4 (Homepage & Resources Page)
    URL: http://www.seethisitem.com
    Title: Photo Hosting
Description: Offers free photo hosting services designed to enhance local newspaper classified advertising with online digital photos and more.

Thank you for your consideration and I wish you continued success with your site!

    Sincerely,
    Janet Doherty

I get so many of these that I routinely delete them as spam. It's problably more effective to look for link partners through forums like DP.

I get many of them as well and delete lots of them, but I always read them first since you never know when you will receive a legitimate request from a quality link exchange partner.
