Re Affiliate Data feeds……if you take one like this: http://www.goldencan.com/ This is a javascript feed – i.e. one line of javascript on your page (not saying these are no good…..I just want something different). As Google can’t read or follow javascript, this would be an almost pointless exercise as far as using the feed to build your site and get better ranking/indexing. The feed pages will not be indexed and you would need to rely on getting traffic to your site and then channeling them to your feed pages or use PPC. I am not much interested in either of these two methods of getting traffic to affiliate pages. What I need is a way of using PHP or some server side software to take the feed and create pages on the site that are capable of being indexed and being seen as part of the website. Has anyone come across something like this or does anybody out there have any suggestions? Thanks - Bounteous.
Most of the merchants on GoldenCan will usually have a delimited data feed file available. GoldenCan has to get their data from somewhere, afterall. You just have to get in touch with them, and in general you will get approved. You import the flat file into a DB, and then you move on from there, usually using a CMS.
