How to advertise my site to targeted traffic

I am new to marketing and the site is spaceviewers.com (new, no live links yet sorry) This site caters to the myspace music crowd for music plays and profile views. I have advertised by email and friend adding at myspace with little success, but would like to know if there is other places to advertise to my targeted audience outside the myspace website community Any forum, music sites anywhere less that may help

If you have got the budget, (and some knowledge) Adwords will for sure give you exposure.

 

Find specific keywords you think your crowd is typing in google with
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Then start writing articles and submit them to digg, propeller, ezinearticles, squidoo, hubpages so that you'll start getting traffic...

This is reallllyyyyy simplified, but you can only learn how to do it by actually doing it.

There really are several different ways of generating traffic for a site like yours.

As mentioned, article writing & Adwords for sure will give you a start. Consider some level of social marketing too and I would encourage you to create branded youtube videos as this will generate a good level of traffic over time. Other methods also exist - Craigslist for example. The more streams of traffic you set-up the better your site will do (and the less risk too in case one stream dries up).
