How to advertise a news site

Hello guys.

I got the job to advertise a local news site (it is for a small town). I am just an intern, so no pressure really.

I intend to do SEO, but please tell me any experiences with advertising this type of sites, in terms of paid, or even free advertising.

If you want quick results, then it would be best to go with ppc to start. Seo is important, must be done but will take a lot of time and hard work. You could also place banners on similar news sites.

 

You could set it up to be included in Google News.

I'm going through the same situation right now.  I'll be making an important local news portal for a small town.  I'll reply to this thread if I come across successful techniques.

 

Make a press release and give some detail about your site. As this is totally a new site so take some time to get it mature. Next start PPC but until then continue the SEO work.

do seo it, ppc would be expensive if you can bear it go for it but as u leave ppc you will fall rapidly which would have abad impact on your site on the other hand seo will help you in long term without spending money.
