Depending on what your forums are, it shouldn't be too hard to add a brief introduction to your homepage about your site. You can then use the targetting code (found in the help section when you login to your account on the AdSense site) that uses the "ad_section_start" and "ad_section_end" tags around that description to tell the ads to only read that text.

I believe it may also help if the title tags reflect what is in your site. When I tried putting ads on my forums, it kept coming up with things to do with the the title tag and the website address.
