I do it by modifying the index.php page, just maintain a count within the main loop and display the ads as and when you want to. It would be more flexible as a plug in though.

    so you recommend the plug?

also, you are only allowed 3 adblocks on any one page so do you have to go and remove the one from the 3rd (soon to be 4th) post everytime you post a new entry?

I'd hope any plugins would have an option to do that automatically.

None of the plugins I've seen handle the number of adsense ads on the main page. Acmetech's plugin gives you the option of adding adsense to both posts and your templates.

You can only have 3 ad units per page. There is nothing else you need to do, adsense limits it automatically.

    The man is right.
I have the adsense code at the top of my Main Index Template... It posts the adsense code at the top two posts. This is because I also have and ad on my sidebar. Adsense will only display 3 ads per page, plus the footer unit.

Check out how it looks at http://www.pinkeyedjim.com

Do you not simply add the code to the inedx.php?

There is this plugin called “All in One Adsense and YPN”, it will do exactly what you wanted, there is an option to limit the number of ads per page and per post, and there is no tags to insert on each post, adsense ad is inserted automatically at the position you set in the options.

    download it here:

Dude...I moved my blog yesterday from Blogger into WordPress...what an ordeal! Now I can't get anything to work. I've installed both Adsense Manager and Adsense Deluxe...still no ads. This is taking my life...

Why, people, tell me why WP is so great!?!

I've followed the instructions for making the ads...I get a message that says "Cannot load Adsense-Deluxe.php" I've pasted my code, etc....no ads. What a nightmare...like total frustration.

There are two ways, use adsense plugins or edit ur theme files (manually)

If plugins, then try all in one yahoo and adsense or adsense manager , adsense deluxe, adman. First 3 are best.

If manually, then open ur theme editor if u have basic php and html knowledge. edit ur index.php, post.php , archive.php and page.php files, n paste ur code there.
