For high Page rank you need quality back links and you can also go for Link Building process. You can also go for Article Marketing.

If you want to to have a high PR then the main thing is to get the backlinks . Gaining back links from the high PR sites are the most beneficial and most difficult task to also .

I still don't know why people worry about PR instead of RANKINGS. What's the point of having a PR5 site if your #23 for your keyword and get 0 visitors? PR doesn't make you money. Rankings make you money. Lots of them.

Instead of wasting time chasing PR, build some quality links targeting your keyword (case studies as guest posts on authority sites in your own niche, for example, a couple of those premium links can make you hit first page of Google like nothing instead of 100s of crappy links). Once you get #1-2-3 in SERPs for many of your keywords THEN you'll see the money coming in.

And if your site is a PR2 already, another reason to stop chasing PR. PR2 is pretty good. Focus on targeting your keywords instead.

If you are expecting people to tell you sites to get backlinks from, then you don't understand backlinks. YOU have to search for sites in your niche to get backlinks from. The higher de PR of the site, the better, but relevancy is far more important than PR. A link from a relevant PR2 is a lot better than a link from a PR5 unrelated site. That's why you see PR1s and PR2s outranking PR4 and PR5 sites so often in SERPs, because of relevancy.

    Some Backlink Rules to follow:
-Ideally contextual (and do follow) links (and in the first paragraph) from authoritative sources are the strongest and most beneficial for SEO.
-The types of contextual links that will not have much value are those from unrelated sites and sites that have no specific theme or are a collection of unrelated articles.
    -
When the link is part of the text in an a article focused on a specific topic related to the theme of the receiving page, the link becomes a natural link. When it is part of an article on a site whose overall theme is directly related to that of the receiving page, it becomes a quality link, which is a type of link preferred by Google and other major search engines.

Google is highly unreliable for showing backlinks. You better use backlinkwatch.com, which is pretty accurate. Also, don't bother too much about Google finding your backlinks, IT DOES. Google is not stupid. They know ALL your backlinks, even if they don't show them, so dont't worry about it, just focus on building them.

In any case, you must only have one thing in mind: Your rankings. Are you #59 for your keyword? Build links. Are you #22 for your keyword? Build more links. Are you #7 for your keyword? Build more links. Are you #2? Build more links. It's as simple as that. Build links till you get to #1, forget about the rest.

How many links will you need? That will depend on the strenght of your competition and the quality of the links you get. What you can do is build 20 quality links in a period of 15-20 days. Then wait a month and see how much your rankings improved (they WILL improve, if you build quality links). Dependig on that you can make a plan to build links till you get to #1.

If you're #112 for your keyword and after those 20 quality links you jump to #12, then your competition is kinda weak and 20 links more might be enough to get you to #1. But if after 20 quality links you go from #112 to #98, then your competition is kinda strong and you will probably need hundrends if not thousands of links to get to #1. You will have to see if the keyword you're trying to target is worth the effort.

You see how this works? It doesn't matter where you're standing, the answer is always BUILD MORE QUALITY LINKS.

"#NUMBER" just means your ranking in SERPs (search engine results pages).

For example, "#12" means that there are 11 sites that show higher than you in SERPs. Page 1 in Google shows sites ranking #1 to #10, page 2 shows sites ranking #11 to #20, etc etc.

You can't have a PR3 with no backlinks. Actually a site with no backlinks wouldn't even be indexed (first rule of Google is that a site/page must have at least one backlink from an indexed page to be indexed). That PR3 site must have lots of backlinks.

Anyway, "increasing PR" is a useless goal. PR is worthless on it's own. PR doesn't make you money. Rankings make you money. Even AGE is more important than PR. When experts buy domains they only ask for age, they don't give a damn about PR.

    http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/ranking-reports/

You put the keyword you're trying to target and the URL of the page that targets it and it gives you the position in SERPs for that keyword.
