Hi, I am new to blogging and hence require some help in setting up a blog. Most blog hosting websites provide blogs like http://xxxxxx.blogspot.com/ or xxxxx.blogpost.com , etc. I want to acquire and set up a blog like http://xxxxxx.com/ How can I set this up and how much will it cost me? Please note that I even have no knowledge of setting up wordpress on the blog. So some help in this regard will be welcome.
You can start with as little as a dollar or two a month (very cheap hosting), plus $1 to $9 per year for a domain name. ~~~~~ Many hosts have 'Fantastico' which makes Wordpress installation as easy as two clicks
Buy a domain - www.namecheap.com Buy hosting- asmallorange.com Install wordpress- http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress If you have fantastico, then wordpress can be automatically installed. But the version may not be the latest. The hosting and the domain registrars I mentioned are only one of the many that exist in this world. They aren't the cheapest, but offer quality service
How much are you looking to pay on hosting? I could set you up with an account on my reseller hosting package and give you wordpress 2.1 or you could install whatever you like via the cpanel interface.
I believe the only way to get your own domain with existing PR is to purchase an existing site and to continue with it. I hear buying domains that expired and have PR... will lose this PR upon the next update. But if you want to try this method anyway... here is one I just found that is available and may suit you... articlesource.net which I found to be a PR3 site. Might be a good deal to start with a brand new domain and keep the same name as your blog. The .COM is taken... but the .NET and .ORG versions are available. Those would cost $7.95 for a year registration at godaddy. You can even find free hosting for the site IF you are willing to allow the host's ad on you pages. Some allow you to use your own domain and include cPanel & Fantastico... and offer an ad-free upgrade option for only $20 per year... like for example... http://GetHosted.info/
